this is my 2nd gear s3, both have lacked basic wristwatch functions right out of the box. i shouldn't have to download a separate app to add stopwatch functionality. additionally, at about 2 years of ownership of each, they both seem to slow down and not do various things. they both stopped giving text notifications. my 2nd one will not charge fully because the screen does not turn off if it is on the charger. it will constantly display that it is charging but once it reaches 100% it will stop charging and then use whatever charge it has to keep the display on despite me verifying the correct screen/display settings.

literally the only good thing about this watch is how it looks. it does have a very sleek design, and if you have the display set to always on you can make it look like youre wearing a very expensive real watch. but other than that, this is worthless. shortly after buying this watch, my google pixel 2xl updated to android 10, and the watch battery life immediately disintegrated. before the update, i could get 2 days out of the watch. after, i couldnt even get through an 8 hour work shift without turning on low power mode, and even then it would die sometimes. and the app store for this is terrible! slow, clunky, and with so many limited options, most of which are badly designed third party apps. get an iphone and apple watch instead.

Worst watch. Got discharged with in less than half day what ever setting I did.I tried power saving or screen time off less than 15 secs . The watch should be ideally on all time. None helped to prolong charging.This problem is present still I bought this watch. I hate this watch now.I prefer Apple one as it does not discharge easily.Samsung customer services is worst as they keep hung for hours with no help without charging extra bugs with warranty devices. It is likely Chinese version of it. That,s why manufacturing issues and never took responsibility of it.

I bought this about three years ago. Recently a crack appeared in the rear of the watch and soon after water ingressed and the watch broke down altogether. It was a good watch while it lasted...but I'm not interested in watches that don't last pretty much indefinitely. This isn't such a device and if you're like me and don't want to be throwing broken tech into recycling, I'm afraid, I'd avoid it like the plague. Sad, watch manufacturers can't play the same games with watches they play with phones...at least, I hope not...

I had this watch about 6 months and it was working great. Then it lost power. I send it back, UNDER WARRANTY, to have it repaired only to get a message that my warranty was voided due to LIQUID DAMAGE. The only liquid this watch came in contact with was the sweat of my arm. They need to take the whole water resistant claim off the website for this watch if liquid damage voids the warranty. When I called to address this issue, I was transferred 5 times only to be told there was nothing they could do. I have Samsung TVs, refrigerator, and cell phones. No more Samsung products for me with the worst customer service from them.

I loved this watch so when it quit working after 22 months I was not happy. I called to have it repaired but it cost $150 to do so with only a 90 day warrenty. So I bought a Galaxy Watch 2019 to replace it. I hope I get a few more years out of this one. I bought the 46mm because it is stanless steel. I wish they offered it in black in this size. The new active two looks to unisex for me. I like my smartwatch to look like a regular watch. I am sure there are more men out there like me. Please do not make the watch look like an apple product.

Wake up gesture makes it a flop

The Bad: The wake up gesture only works about 20% of the time, which turns it from a watch into a bracelet. AOD is nice but I have to charge it every day. The bezel scratched in 2 places after simply bumping into someones purse. The large band is barely big enough for my wrist, and pretty uncomfortable. When listening to music on my bt speaker, if I walk out of range of my phone, it pauses the music. The speaker is too low to actually carry on a conversation unless it's totally silent. So far, this watch has been more annoying than anything The Good: Highly customizable. Choosing different bezels, watch faces, and bands is nice, and not overly expensive. Using the watch to skip songs or pause music comes in handy when the bt speaker or phone is not right next to me. The watch can control my phones alarms when they go off, which is helpful at 4 a.m. It's a nice looking watch, good size, and being customizable helps keep it interesting. Overall, this watch is a flop for me. The wake up gesture not working is a deal breaker. For now i'll use it with AOD on, but another device to charge every day is getting annoying, and it's only been 10 days.

I bought this watch because I'm not a fan of the square Apple watch. Since it was IP68 rated, I thought it would withstand wading in the water to take a photo of some sealife that came close to the shore on my last vacay. Well, my iPhone made it out of the water unscathed, my S3 shorted out. So I sent it in for repair and they told me it would cost $250 to repair it! I told them to keep it, I'll buy an Apple Watch, Fitbit, or Suunto next time. When it gets back from the repair depot, I'm gonna launch it into the upper atmosphere connected to a weather balloon... at least I'll feel better about the money I lost...

I purchased this watch September of 2018. I wanted to give it a good run through before posting my review. So far, a year later, this watch has given little disappointment. Pros: GPS has been very accurate. Quality sound from the built in mic and speaker. Accurate heart rate sensor. Cons: Software seems to lag at times. I have had to do 5 hard reboots on the watch do to it freezing or locking up. Overall I have exposed this watch to all elements of weather. Rain, snow, dust/sand, and accidentally left it laying in my car on accident in the midday sun. So it proves to be durable. If you are looking for a great watch at a great price, I would recommend any of the Gear Series Watches.

I had it for a year and its very useful especially when ur multitasking. u don't have to keep your phone on person everywhere you go like around the house or at work because you have your watch with you just in case you have any calls and text messages or notifications on social media because u can reply with ur watch. But I highly recommend you swap out your watch band for something that's not plastic because I have a rash on my wrist for wearing it.

Some Pros Some Cons

Bought for $200 black friday 2018, been wearing it daily for 9 months. I work at a cast iron foundry and the watch holds up to the heat. I can take samples and temps and remove slag from my furnace with the watch exposed to the same 2750° F heat that my skin is exposed to. I rinse it off every day and it hasn't gotten water in, but I will not shower or swim with it because in the manual it says if you drop it it may not be water resistant anymore. I haven't dropped it but I bang it on things all the time. The screen protector you can buy online is a must. Also I use a cheap black rubber case around the bezel. I can't really use the bezel because of this but it is worth it to keep.it scratch free. Pros- good brightness, great free watch faces online, notifications and texts are conveniently shown (it is a real pain to have to take off my gloves and dig out my phone from my pocket) and it looks sharp. Cons- apps are mostly garbage, full of bugs. Speaker sounds like it is blown, maybe from all the silica dust I expose it to. Battery life is ok, but only because i dont use apps. I have to charge it every day because it only lasts 1.5 days. Probably my biggest pet peeve is the features I enjoyed most were taken away with updates. My sleep record used to show every 20 minute interval, restless, light, or heavy sleep. I sleep during the day so it was nice to check after I woke up and see, "oh, here is where my phone rang, or here is where the doorbell rang." They got rid of that in an update and now only show % of the types of sleep. Also they got rid of the ability to scroll back day by day in the step counter. It just made it so I was less interested in wearing it every moment I could. Also during a super hot muggy week it would overheat while charging, even showed an error message once. I had to put a fan on it to get it to charge past 60%.

I work at a desk all day. I spent nearly 400$ on a Garmin, 2 years later the screen fizzled out. Heard good things about S2. So bought the frontier. Heart rate monitor didnt work when exercising for a year until recent update in Feb. But Suddenly the watch was giving me an overheating warning after the most recent update when charging. Then the cradle started draining the battery. After taking it off the cradle the back contact was damaged. Make sure you get an extended warranty. The forums are full of people with similar problems.

My Gear S3 Frontier went out on me within the year of purchasing it. I went to do an update and when it was all set and done, my watch started a glitch. A glitch where I cant turn it on and it stays on a blue scree when it decides to turn on. At times it comes on but shuts off automatically for days. I tried taking it to Sprint but my warranty had expired.

After repair, still had issue with battery life. After returning twice, they sent me a new watch and all is well! Great features and love the look ! Would definitely purchase again!

I've got this watch for more than a year now and all I can say is that it does what you expect from it. It has really nice features like sport, messaging and calling. But unfortunately it doesn't have many apps available in the galaxy store. It does lag/hang sometimes but that might be because I'm using it intensively. Overall, I do recommend this watch if you've got patience for them to fix some performace issues.

Love the watch. Easy to navigate thru apps with touch screen and benzel. Works great with my galaxy note 9. Battery life is also good 2+ days usually normal use. Heart rate was right on when I tested with store machine and also personal tester. Just the right size also for my wrist has many options with different faces and bands. Also purchased a case to protect outside of it and a glass screen cover cause I use it in rough areas. Bought this a s gift for myself. Loved it initially but battery life was subpar. Long story really short, Samsung has wrongfully charged me for a covered warranty repair and failed to honor the agreement. This watch has been replace 3 times. Once they even sent me a watch incompatible with my carrier. So for about 2 years I've paid for a basically non functional watch and monthly carrier charges (which has not been used at all since the battery never last long enough to use it). This has been a wasteful.

It's a good smartwatch but when working fine, battery would scrape through a day, now after 3 weeks and having this problem for the last week and a half, battery drains 10% every half hour. Tried restarting, factory resetting and eliminating apps but to no avail.

This watch worked great for about a month or two. Now the Samsung Gear app will not open on my phone. The watch no longer does anything but tell time and it took a lot of tinkering around just to get it to do that. I have reset the watch and reinstalled everything and nothing works. I have talked to live support and verified that my phone is compatible and they confirmed that the issue is with the Samsung software and suggested that I wait for an update. I am almost done with waiting and will soon seek a refund. This thing is far too expensive to not be working for weeks.

When I first got this everything worked well. Then an update killed it. There have been many updates but it continues to die within a couple of hours. I think I will get my original Gear fixed and go back to that.

Watch stopped working 2 months out of warranty

I had this watch for a little over a year and it was okay, just okay. 2 months after the warranty expired, the screen randomly started acting up and then within 24 hours, the screen just stopped working all together. This happened coincidentally after a major software update. I guess I'm going to Garmin.

I bought this watch yesterday, I am returning it in less than 24 hours after getting it. I have gone through the set up of this watch over 12 times, every time I try to connect to the phone it resets the watch. The app on the phone detects the watch but as soon as it says continue on watch the OS just craps out. Do not bother purchasing this thing, try getting something with less bloatware as well. Samsung has dropped in quality over the years and this is the reason why I no longer buy any of their products. Again, I was not able to connect the watch to my phone once... As a software developer, this is one of the most poorly designed OS' out there...

I bought this watch 2 years ago and from day 1 had to charge it every day. I use number sync and it's a cell version (can act as a phone standalone). Perhaps that's what the drain is. Also tried using it for gps for golf...can't make it through a round. I also have all notifications turned off. Perhaps the battery was never good, but seems like I probably need a new one at minimum.

Love my S3 even after a full year

Honestly, can't function without my s3. Even after a year it has works great and looks fantastic. Have knocked it over, bumped it and spilled water on it and still looks great with barely a scuff on it. Would recommend this over the Galaxy Watch, specially since the new one lacks Samsung Pay which is a really cool feature in my opinion.
